SAT
Purpose:
The SAT is a measure of the critical thinking skills needed for academic success in college. The SAT assesses analytical and problem-solving skills learned high school that is needed for college. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800, plus two writing sub-scores for multiple-choice and the essay. The tests include critical reading, math and writing. Registration is required for the SAT; students register here.
Who takes the SAT?
Is the SAT test optional or required?
The National SAT (Saturday test) is optional; however, college-bound students may need to take it as an admission requirement for some colleges and universities.
What areas does the SAT test cover?
• Critical Reading sections: reading passages and sentence completion
• Math sections: arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability
• Writing Skills section: identifying errors and improving grammar and usage

How do I register for the SAT?
- Students must sign-up on the SAT website. Under very specific circumstances only, a student can register by mail.
Test Fees:
- SAT - $68.00
- Late Registration Fee-Additional $35.00
- Registration tip: At the time of registration students may indicate 4 colleges to which they would like their SAT score sent at no additional charge. We recommend that students take advantage of this service, as the cost is covered by the registration fee. Four registration score reports are available up to nine days after the test date. If a student wishes to wait until after the test to send scores, the cost is $14 per test date/per report.

Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed in testing rooms. If they are brought into the testing room, they must remain powered completely off for the duration of the test, including breaks.
A student who gains access to their phone, or has a phone that rings, at any time during the exam or break, will be dismissed from the exam and their score will be canceled.
